Problem

During my time in VC, I saw firsthand how much time is wasted sourcing the hottest leads before anyone else gets there. For associates (and anyone below), it’s basically the whole job: manually trawling through LinkedIn, Twitter, databases, and more. The result? Huge time sinks, missed opportunities, and a process that doesn’t scale.

Solution

Topscope automated sourcing with an advanced scraper that:

  • Collected promising founders and projects from across the internet
  • Classified and enriched profiles automatically
  • Ranked opportunities by potential — ready for outreach

Process

On nights and weekends, I started building a tool that scraped the most interesting sources for dealflow (linkedin, twitter, pitchbook, mastodon (web3)). Early versions already made me 55% more productive in my job, I used the newly available time to build more features. I left VC, locked myself in my room and productized it. Started selling it to 10+ funds worldwide (Kraken Ventures, Escape Velocity, Formless Capital)

I had to close the project down when Elon started charging $40k / month for access to the Twitter API, my main source of leads.
